The refuge is in Via Mauri 1 in Piani Resinelli, located between 1,200 and 1,400 metres altitude situated above Ballabio, at the foot of Grigna Meridionale or Grignetta.

To reach us by car follow the SS36DIR highway that goes directly from Lecco to Ballabio through a series of fast tunnels. To come by bike or at a more leisurely pace in the car, follow the SP62 Valsassina road.
Once in Ballabio, turn left at the roundabout following the signs for Piani Resinelli and when you get to the residential area in Resinelli, take the right bend before the coffee bar that leads into Via Mauri and takes you up to the Refuge.

The snowbell colours the snow, eyelash petals from the sky
The snowbell is an alpine primrose, a tiny lilac bellflower with frayed edges that, like all mountain flowers, reappears every year with surprising strength to announce the coming of the fine weather and survives the short mountain summer in its full glory. With the same tenacity and the same sense of belonging to the land, we decided a couple of years ago to move our activity and our life to a natural and human contest with unique features.
We are Daniela Magni and Mauro Taramelli and we chose Resinelli to realise our dream of living in the mountains and of sharing it with others. We live here with our son Yuki (“snow” in Japanese), who we see grow up in harmony with everything that surrounds him. Here we savour the crisp spring air, the aroma of wet grass after a summer storm, the warm colours of autumn and the hush after a snowfall… following the regular breath of nature.
We purchased the Soldanella Refuge from SEM, the Milan Association of Hikers established in 1891 by the pioneers of mountaineering, who built the refuge in 1899 as a starting base for excursions to the Lecco rock faces. The SEM Cavalletti, as it was called at that time, was inaugurated on 29th October of the same year with a memorable event that included important figures such as Mario the well-known geologist and president of CAI (Club Alpino Italiano – Italian Alpine Club). In those days the refuge could only be reached on foot from Lecco, a last outpost of road and rail, and was therefore a true point of sustenance before tackling the rock climbs.
It is with the welcoming spirit that we found here and try to perpetuate with perseverance our aim of promoting the territory and, above all, the people who live and work here in harmony with the rhythms of nature. Farmers, breeders, sports-lovers, innovators… mountain people who we share the passion for the mountains with and who help us to constantly renew the activities on offer for tourists, to guarantee the best possible solutions for everyone while respecting the Alpine environment.
